N. Penalva, E. Hern\'andez, J. Nieves

TL;DR
This paper investigates the tau polarization vector in $b o c au ar u_ au$ decays, highlighting how complex Wilson coefficients can induce perpendicular polarization components as signals of new physics and CP violation.
Contribution
It introduces a comprehensive analysis of tau polarization in semileptonic decays, emphasizing the role of complex Wilson coefficients in revealing physics beyond the Standard Model.
Findings
Perpendicular polarization components indicate complex Wilson coefficients.
Tau polarization can discriminate between different new physics scenarios.
Analysis applies to multiple decay channels including $ar B o D^{(*)}$ and $ar B_c o ext{mesons}$.
Abstract
For a general decay we analyze the role of the polarization vector in the context of lepton flavor universality violation studies. We use a general phenomenological approach that includes, in addition to the Standard Model (SM) contribution, vector, axial, scalar, pseudoscalar and tensor new physics (NP) terms which strength is governed by, complex in general, Wilson coefficients. We show that both in the laboratory frame, where the initial hadron is at rest, and in the center of mass of the two final leptons, a component perpendicular to the plane defined by the three-momenta of the final hadron and the lepton is only possible for complex Wilson coefficients, being a clear signal for physics beyond the SM as well as time reversal (or CP-symmetry) violation. We make specific evaluations of the different…
