Top-pair production via gluon fusion in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory
Christoph M\"uller

TL;DR
This paper calculates how dimension-six operators in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory modify top-pair production via gluon fusion, considering loop suppression effects and providing a systematic approach for such corrections.
Contribution
It introduces a systematic method to include leading dimension-six operator corrections, accounting for loop suppression, in top-pair production calculations within the Standard Model EFT.
Findings
Leading corrections are suppressed by a loop factor $1/16\pi^2$.
Explicit treatment of operators with gluon field strength tensors.
Systematic approach for including dimension-six operators in top-pair production.
Abstract
We compute the leading corrections to the differential cross section for top-pair production via gluon fusion due to dimension-six operators at leading order in QCD. The Standard Model fields are assumed to couple only weakly to the hypothetical new sector. A systematic approach then suggests treating single insertions of the operator class containing gluon field strength tensors on the same footing as expli\-citly loop suppressed contributions from four-fermion operators. This is in particular the case for the chromomagnetic operator and the purely bosonic operators and . All leading order dimension-six contributions are consequently suppressed with a loop factor .
