Wang-Landau simulations with non-flat distributions
Stefan Schnabel, Wolfhard Janke

TL;DR
This paper modifies the Wang-Landau simulation method to generate non-flat distributions, which can improve efficiency for certain systems, supported by specific examples demonstrating the enhancement.
Contribution
It introduces a modification to the Wang-Landau method enabling the production of non-flat distributions to enhance simulation efficiency.
Findings
Non-flat distributions can improve sampling efficiency.
The modified method is demonstrated with practical examples.
Efficiency gains depend on the system and chosen profile.
Abstract
We show how the well-known Wang-Landau method can be modified to produce non-flat distributions. Through the choice of a suitable profile this can lead to an increase in efficiency for some systems. Examples for such an enhancement are provided.
