TL;DR
This paper explores the thermodynamic phase transitions of Born-Infeld AdS black holes in 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity, revealing Van der Waals-like and solid/liquid/gas-like behaviors depending on parameters.
Contribution
It uncovers new phase transition phenomena, including a triple point and multiple critical points, in the thermodynamics of these black holes.
Findings
Van der Waals-like SBH/LBH phase transition for all positive parameters
Discovery of a triple point with SBH/IBH/LBH phases
Solid/liquid/gas-like phase transition behavior
Abstract
By treating the cosmological constant as a thermodynamic pressure, we investigate the thermodynamic behaviors of Born-Infeld AdS black hole in 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) gravity. The result shows that the Van der Waals like small/large black hole (SBH/LBH) phase transition always appears for any positive parameters and . Moreover, we observe a new phenomenon of small/intermediate/large black hole (SBH/IBH/LBH) phase transition with one tricritical and two critical points in the available parameter region for \alpha and \beta. This behavior is reminiscent of the solid/liquid/gas phase transition.
