Speed-Up Ramp-Counter ADC Using Locality Principle : A systematic analysis
HoseinAli Jafari Abeshoori, Seyed Saeed Azadfar

TL;DR
This paper analyzes the factors influencing ramp-counter ADC conversion speed and proposes systematic modifications based on the locality principle, achieving significant time reduction demonstrated through modeling and simulation.
Contribution
It introduces two systematic changes to accelerate ramp-counter ADCs using the locality principle, validated by Matlab simulations.
Findings
Up to 97% reduction in conversion time for electro-cardiograph records
Modeling and simulation confirm effectiveness of proposed modifications
Provides a systematic analysis of parameters affecting ADC speed
Abstract
This work inspects the parameters that affect the conversion rate of a ramp-counter ADC and propose two small systematical changes to reduce the time needed to complete a single analog to digital conversion by use of the locality principle point of view. System full architecture is modeled and simulated by Matlab script and the results show up to 97% reduction in conversion time for an electro-cardiograph record.
