TL;DR
This paper constructs new supersymmetric $AdS_3$ solutions in five-dimensional supergravity with a spindle orbifold, which uplift to smooth type IIB solutions and are dual to specific 2D SCFTs, revealing novel R-symmetry mixing.
Contribution
It introduces supersymmetric $AdS_3$ solutions with spindle orbifolds in minimal gauged supergravity that uplift to smooth type IIB backgrounds, connecting geometry with dual SCFTs.
Findings
Central charge matches field theory calculations.
Superconformal R-symmetry mixes with spindle isometry.
Solutions are dual to 2D $ ext{SCFTs}$ with $ ext{N}=(0,2)$ supersymmetry.
Abstract
We construct supersymmetric solutions of minimal gauged supergravity in , where is a two-dimensional orbifold known as a spindle. Remarkably, these uplift on , or more generally on any regular Sasaki-Einstein manifold, to smooth solutions of type IIB supergravity. The solutions are dual to , SCFTs and we show that the central charge for the gravity solution agrees with a field theory calculation associated with D3-branes wrapped on . Unlike for smooth the superconformal R-symmetry mixes with the isometry of the spindle.
