Abstract
Astrobiology or exobiology is a relatively new area of science that investigates the possibilities of finding life in other places in the universe. This not only includes the exploration of planets near or distant to Earth, but also the exploration of our own planet in the study of the origin and evolution of life. Given the complexity of the questions this field tries to answer, astrobiology nourishes from various areas of science, such as physics, chemistry, astronomy, geology, among others, the reason why is considered an interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary area. Some of these questions have also arisen from these areas and have converged in what is now astrobiology. Even many of these questions have also been asked in ancient times, although without the scientific and technical framework that we have today.
