TL;DR
This paper introduces a quaternionic framework for electrodynamics that inherently includes magnetic monopoles and generalizes key concepts like charge quantization.
Contribution
It develops a quaternionic formalism for electrodynamics, supporting magnetic monopoles and extending Dirac's monopole theory and charge quantization.
Findings
Derived field equations and conservation laws within the quaternionic formalism
Generalized Dirac monopole and charge quantization rule
Established energy and momentum conservation in the new framework
Abstract
We develop a quaternionic electrodynamics and show that it naturally supports the existence of magnetic monopoles. We obtained the field equations, the continuity equation, the electrodynamic force law, the Poynting vector, the energy conservation and the stress-energy tensor. The formalism also enabled us to generalize the Dirac monopole and the charge quantization rule.
