Radiation Eigenmodes of Dicke Superradiance
Benjamin Lemberger, Klaus M{\o}lmer

TL;DR
This paper analyzes the eigenmodes of superradiant emission from many two-level atoms, revealing that most photons are emitted in a single dominant mode, with both numerical and analytical methods used.
Contribution
It introduces an analytical approach to approximate superradiant modes in large atomic ensembles, complementing numerical techniques.
Findings
Over 90% of photons emitted in a single mode
Superradiance is restricted to a small number of modes
Develops an analytical approximation method
Abstract
We calculate the field eigenmodes of the superradiant emission from an ensemble of two-level atoms. While numerical techniques are effective due to the symmetry of the problem, we develop also an analytical method to approximates the modes in the limit of a large number of emitters. We find that Dicke superradiant emission is restricted to a small number of modes, with a little over 90\% of the photons emitted in a single dominant mode.
