TL;DR
This paper presents novel measurements of jet substructure in proton-proton and lead-lead collisions at 5.02 TeV using ALICE, including first-time measurements of groomed jet observables with new grooming techniques and background correction methods.
Contribution
It introduces the first measurements of groomed jet momentum fraction and radius in pp collisions using Dynamical Grooming, and provides background-corrected jet substructure data in Pb-Pb collisions with Soft Drop.
Findings
First measurement of $z_g$ and $ heta_g$ in pp with Dynamical Grooming.
Background-corrected jet substructure observables in Pb-Pb collisions.
Comparison of measurements with theoretical models.
Abstract
We report jet substructure measurements in and collisions at TeV with the ALICE detector. Charged-particle jets were reconstructed at midrapidity with the ALICE tracking detectors using the anti- algorithm with resolution parameters and . In collisions, the groomed jet momentum fraction, , and the groomed jet radius, , are measured for the first time using the Dynamical Grooming method. Additionally, new systematic measurements of the infrared and collinear (IRC) safe ungroomed jet angularities are presented. In heavy-ion collisions, we measure and with the Soft Drop grooming algorithm. The large underlying event in heavy-ion collisions poses a challenge for…
