Stepwise Chirping of Chiral Sculptured Thin Films for Bragg Bandwidth Enhancement
Akhlesh Lakhtakia

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that stepwise chirping of chiral sculptured thin films significantly broadens the Bragg bandwidth, improving their effectiveness as circular polarization filters across a wider frequency spectrum.
Contribution
The study introduces a novel stepwise chirping technique to enhance the Bragg bandwidth of chiral sculptured thin films, extending their operational frequency range.
Findings
Bragg bandwidth is considerably increased with stepwise chirping.
Enhanced bandwidth extends the frequency range for circular polarization filtering.
Chiral sculptured thin films can be optimized for broader applications.
Abstract
A stepwise chirping of the periodicity of a chiral sculptured thin film is shown to considerably enhance the bandwidth of the Bragg regime, thereby extending the frequency range of operation as a circular{polarization filter.
