TL;DR
This paper reviews classic metric indexing structures within the 'sprawl of ambits' framework, unifying them as configurations of a general structure and demonstrating a common search procedure.
Contribution
It introduces a unified perspective on metric indexes through the 'sprawl of ambits' framework, connecting various structures under a single general model.
Findings
All classic metric indexes can be viewed as configurations of a single structure.
A common search procedure applies across different index types.
The framework clarifies relationships among various metric indexing methods.
Abstract
A follow-up to my previous tutorial on metric indexing, this paper walks through the classic structures, placing them all in the context of the recently proposed "sprawl of ambits" framework. The indexes are presented as configurations of a single, more general structure, all queried using the same search procedure.
