Measurement of B$_\mathrm{c}$(2S)$^+$ and B$_\mathrm{c}^*$(2S)$^+$ cross section ratios in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV
CMS Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper measures the production cross section ratios of excited Bc meson states relative to the ground state in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV, using CMS data, and reports their values and distributions.
Contribution
First measurement of Bc(2S) and Bc*(2S) cross section ratios relative to Bc+ at 13 TeV with detailed decay analysis.
Findings
Measured ratios: (3.47 ± 0.63)% for Bc(2S)+ to Bc+
Measured ratios: (4.69 ± 0.71)% for Bc*(2S)+ to Bc+
Measured ratios: 1.35 ± 0.32% for Bc*(2S)+ to Bc(2S)+
Abstract
The ratios of the B(2S) to B, B(2S) to B, and B(2S) to B(2S) production cross sections are measured in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV, using a data sample collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 143 fb. The three measurements are made in the B meson phase space region defined by the transverse momentum 15 GeV and absolute rapidity 2.4, with the excited B(2S) states reconstructed through the B, followed by the B J/ and J/ decays. The B(2S) to B, B(2S) to B, and B(2S) to…
