Reduced models for wave-balanced flow interactions
Andr\'e Pal\'oczy

TL;DR
This paper investigates energy transfer mechanisms between near-inertial waves and balanced ocean flows, aiming to develop a simplified asymptotic model through idealized simulations to better understand these complex interactions.
Contribution
It introduces a new asymptotic model for wave-balanced flow interactions and uses idealized simulations to analyze energy exchanges in the ocean.
Findings
Insights into energy pathways from injection to dissipation
Development of a simplified asymptotic model
Enhanced understanding of wave-flow interactions
Abstract
The routes mechanical energy takes from injection to dissipation in the ocean are currently an open problem. The goals of this project are to: 1) Study the energy exchanges between near-inertial waves and the balanced flow using idealized simulations and 2) To derive a new asymptotic model to help develop an understanding of such interactions.
