TL;DR
The LAMOST MRS-N survey aims to collect high-resolution spectra of about 500,000 Galactic nebulae over five years, providing precise radial velocities to advance understanding of star formation and evolution.
Contribution
This paper presents an overview of the scientific goals and survey plan for the LAMOST MRS-N, a large-scale medium-resolution spectral survey of Galactic nebulae.
Findings
Spectra can achieve radial velocity uncertainties less than 1 km/s.
Survey will cover about 1700 square degrees of the northern Galactic plane.
Approximately 500,000 nebulae spectra will be collected over five years.
Abstract
Since Sep. 2018, LAMOST started the medium-resolution (R ) spectral survey (MRS). We proposed the spectral survey of Galactic nebulae, including \hii\ regions, HH objects, supernova remnants, planetary nebulae and the special stars with MRS (LAMOST MRS-N). LAMOST MRS-N covers about 1700 square degrees of the northern Galactic plane within and . In this 5-year survey, we plan to observe about 500 thousand nebulae spectra. According to the commissioning observations, the nebulae spectra can provide precise radial velocity with uncertainty less than 1 km s. These high-precision spectral data are of great significance to our understanding of star formation and evolution.
