Measurement of the $CP$-violating phase $\phi_\mathrm{s}$ in the B$^0_\mathrm{s}$ $\to$ J$/\psi\, \phi$(1020) $\to$ $\mu^+\mu^-$K$^+$K$^-$ channel in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV
CMS Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper reports a precise measurement of the $CP$-violating phase $\,phi_s$ and decay width difference $\,Delta\,Gamma_s$ in B$_s^0$ mesons using CMS data at 13 TeV, employing advanced flavor tagging and angular analysis techniques.
Contribution
First measurement of $\,phi_s$ and $\,Delta\,Gamma_s$ at 13 TeV with a novel machine learning-based flavor tagging method.
Findings
Measured $\,phi_s = -11 \,\pm\ 50 \,\text{(stat)} \,\pm\ 10 \,\text{syst}$ mrad.
Measured $\,\Delta\Gamma_s = 0.114 \,\pm\ 0.014 \,\text{(stat)} \,\pm\ 0.007 \,\text{syst}$ ps$^{-1}$.
Results are consistent with the standard model predictions.
Abstract
The -violating weak phase and the decay width difference between the light and heavy B mass eigenstates are measured with the CMS detector at the LHC in a sample of 48 500 reconstructed B J(1020) KK events. The measurement is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 96.4 fb, collected in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV in 2017-2018. To extract the values of and , a time-dependent and flavor-tagged angular analysis of the KK final state is performed. The analysis employs a dedicated tagging trigger and a novel opposite-side muon flavor tagger based on machine learning techniques. The measurement yields 11 50 (stat) 10…
