TL;DR
This paper calculates azimuthal angle distributions for forward trijet production in p-p and p-Pb collisions at the LHC using the small-x ITMD factorization, revealing differences from standard approaches and potential saturation effects.
Contribution
It introduces a multi-parton extension of the ITMD factorization for trijet production and compares it with standard $k_T$-factorization, enhancing understanding of small-x gluon dynamics.
Findings
Large differences observed between ITMD and $k_T$-factorization results.
Significant depletion of nuclear modification ratio in p-Pb collisions.
Potential to use trijet states to search for saturation effects.
Abstract
We calculate various azimuthal angle distributions for three jets produced in the forward rapidity region with transverse momenta in proton-proton (p-p) and proton-lead (p-Pb) collisions at center of mass energy . We use the multi-parton extension of the so-called small- Improved Transverse Momentum Dependent factorization (ITMD). We study effects related to change from the standard -factorization to ITMD factorization as well as changes as one goes from p-p collision to p-Pb. We observe rather large differences in the distribution when we change the factorization approach, which allows to both improve the small- TMD gluon distributions as well as validate and improve the factorization approach. We also see significant depletion of the nuclear modification ratio, indicating a possibility of searches for saturation effects using…
