TL;DR
This paper reviews the Fröhlich polaron model, focusing on the strong coupling limit, the validity of the Pekar approximation, quantum corrections, and the divergence of the effective mass.
Contribution
It provides a comprehensive review of both classical and recent results on the polaron at strong coupling, highlighting quantum effects and mass divergence.
Findings
Pekar approximation validity in strong coupling
Quantum corrections to polaron energy
Divergence of the effective polaron mass
Abstract
We review old and new results on the Fr\"ohlich polaron model. The discussion includes the validity of the (classical) Pekar approximation in the strong coupling limit, quantum corrections to this limit, as well as the divergence of the effective polaron mass.
