Dariusz Miskowiec (for the ALICE Collaboration)

TL;DR
This paper discusses the upgrade of the ALICE Time Projection Chamber with new GEM-based readout chambers, detailing the manufacturing and quality assurance processes involved.
Contribution
It presents the development, production, and quality assurance procedures for the new GEM-based readout chambers in the ALICE TPC upgrade.
Findings
Successful implementation of GEM technology in the TPC
Effective quality assurance procedures established
Enhanced detector performance anticipated
Abstract
The ALICE Time Projection Chamber has just been upgraded by replacing the readout chambers, which cover the two ends of the cylinder, with new detectors based on the Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) technology. We report here on the related activities at GSI Darmstadt: GEM framing and chamber production, as well as the quality assurance accompanying both procedures.
