V. P. Goncalves, R. Palota da Silva

TL;DR
This paper investigates the production of quarkonium pairs in exclusive and diffractive processes at the LHC and FCC, providing predictions for distributions and cross sections, and analyzing the dominant production mechanisms.
Contribution
It offers the first detailed predictions for double quarkonium production in exclusive and diffractive processes at future collider energies, including the impact of gap survival modeling.
Findings
Double J/Ψ production is dominated by exclusive processes.
Double Υ production has significant diffractive contributions.
Cross section predictions vary with gap survival assumptions.
Abstract
The production of a quarkonium -- pair in exclusive and diffractive processes in collisions at the LHC and FCC energies is investigated. We consider the and production in these processes and present predictions for the transverse momentum and rapidity distributions considering the kinematical ranges expected to be covered by central and forward detectors. Results for the cross sections are also presented. Our results indicate that the double production is dominated by the exclusive process, while the double production receive a large contribution of the diffractive process. The impact of the modelling of the gap survival factor on our predictions is discussed.
