TL;DR
This paper provides an overview of methods for searching for new physics using top quarks, including both indirect and direct approaches, emphasizing the complementary roles of LHC and flavor observables.
Contribution
It offers a pedagogic introduction to top quark-based new physics searches, highlighting recent strategies and the interplay between different experimental probes.
Findings
LHC and flavor observables complement each other in new physics searches.
Effective theory approaches are used for indirect heavy particle searches.
Direct searches target signatures of a light hidden sector.
Abstract
This is a brief pedagogic introduction to searches for new physics with top quarks. It covers indirect searches for heavy new particles based on standard model effective theory and direct searches for new signatures of a light hidden sector. LHC and flavor observables complement and strengthen each other in this endeavor.
