Jung-Wan Ryu, Sunghwan Rim

TL;DR
This paper investigates whispering gallery modes in triple microdisks arranged in triangular configurations, analyzing their properties through symmetry considerations and matrix models to understand mode interactions and resonances.
Contribution
It introduces a detailed analysis of resonant modes in triple microdisks with triangular arrangements, including symmetry-based explanations and matrix models for mode behavior.
Findings
Resonant modes are explained by discrete rotational symmetry.
Avoided crossings are characterized in isosceles configurations.
Matrix models effectively describe mode interactions.
Abstract
We study whispering gallery modes in triple microdisks of equilateral and isosceles triangular configurations. The characteristic properties of resonant modes in three microdisks on vertices of an equilateral triangle are explained by discrete rotational symmetry of the triangle. The avoided crossings of resonant modes in three microdisks on vertices of an isosceles triangle are also studied in terms of a combination of single and coupled microdisks. Finally, we propose the matrix models which well explain the resonant modes in triple microdisks.
