Pion exchange interaction in the $\gamma p \to p e^+e^-$ reaction
Swapan Das

TL;DR
This paper investigates the role of pion exchange in the gamma-proton to proton electron-positron reaction, analyzing vector meson interference effects using the Vector Meson Dominance model in the Jefferson Laboratory energy range.
Contribution
It provides a detailed calculation of the differential cross section for the reaction, highlighting the significance of pion exchange in vector meson interactions.
Findings
Pion exchange significantly influences the $ ho^0-\omega$ interference.
The VMD model effectively describes vector meson photoproduction.
Differential cross sections are compared to experimental data at Jefferson Laboratory.
Abstract
The interference has been studied in the dilepton invariant mass distribution spectra in the photonuclear reaction, but that is not done for the gamma-nucleon reaction. Recent past, the invariant mass distribution spectrum in the reaction, i.e., reaction, was measured at Jefferson Laboratory to look for the interference in the multi-GeV region. To study the mechanism of this reaction, the differential cross section of the invariant mass distribution is calculated in the quoted energy region. The reaction is assumed to proceed as ; , where denotes a vector meson, i.e., either or meson. The photoproduction of the vector meson is described by the Vector Meson Dominance (VMD) model which consists of diagonal and off-diagonal processes. The diagonal…
