Forward and Reverse Parking in a Parking Lot
Kexin Xie, Myron Hlynka

TL;DR
This paper models forward and reverse parking as a stochastic process using queueing theory and Monte Carlo simulation to analyze vehicle behavior and parking state dynamics in a parking lot.
Contribution
It introduces a novel application of an $M/M/c/c$ queueing model combined with Monte Carlo simulation to study parking dynamics and vehicle orientation effects.
Findings
Relationship between vehicle orientation and entry/exit rates
Most likely parking states at different rates
Dynamic changes in parking status over time
Abstract
The choice of forward and reverse parking in a parking lot is studied as a stochastic process. An queueing system is used as an initial framework. We use Monte Carlo simulation to get the relationship between vehicle orientation and vehicle entry and exit rates, as well as the most likely parking states at each specific rate. We view the change in parking status over time.
