Universal Spinning Black Holes and Theories of Class $\mathcal R$
Nikolay Bobev, P. Marcos Crichigno

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates a universal relationship between the free energy and superconformal index of certain 3D SCFTs and the entropy of supersymmetric rotating black holes in AdS4, especially for theories from wrapped M5-branes.
Contribution
It establishes a universal holographic relation between field theory indices and black hole entropy for class R theories derived from M5-branes.
Findings
Superconformal index matches black hole entropy at large N.
Universal relation between free energy and superconformal index for a broad class of SCFTs.
Application to theories from M5-branes on hyperbolic three-manifolds.
Abstract
We study a supersymmetric, rotating, electrically charged black hole in AdS which is a solution of four-dimensional minimal gauged supergravity. Using holography we show that the free energy on and the superconformal index of the dual three-dimensional SCFT, in the planar limit, are related in a simple universal way. This result applies to large classes of SCFTs constructed from branes in string and M-theory which we discuss in some detail. For theories of class , which arise from M5-branes wrapped on hyperbolic three-manifolds, we show that the superconformal index agrees with the black hole entropy in the large limit.
