## TL;DR

This paper reviews the historical development of conic sections, emphasizing Archimedes' contributions, although there is no clear evidence he authored a dedicated treatise on the subject.

## Contribution

It provides a comprehensive overview of Archimedes' work related to conic sections, highlighting the historical context and existing evidence.

## Key findings

- Archimedes' extensive work on conic sections
- Lack of evidence for a separate treatise by Archimedes
- Historical significance of Archimedes' contributions

## Abstract

A brief review of the history of the conic sections would not be complete without an exhaustively tolerable account of all the things related to the subject that can be found in the extensive work of the wise Archimedes. There is no strong evidence that the Syracusan genius wrote a treatise on Conics separately.
