arXiv: 1906.02927 · 2019-06-10

## TL;DR

The paper advocates for a shift in scientific publishing towards fewer, higher-quality papers and smaller research teams to enhance the maturity and sustainability of science.

## Contribution

It proposes a novel strategy for scientific publication emphasizing quality over quantity and smaller collaborative roles.

## Key findings

- Fewer, high-quality publications can improve scientific maturity.
- Reducing team sizes may lead to more sustainable scientific progress.
- A shift in publication culture could enhance research impact.

## Abstract

In the same way ecosystems tend to increase maturity by decreasing the flow of energy per unit biomass, we should move towards a more mature science by publishing less but high-quality papers and getting away from joining large teams in small roles. That is, we should decrease our scientific productivity for good.
