## TL;DR

This paper investigates how light propagation in area metric spacetimes reveals deviations from standard relations, providing insights into non-metricity effects in gravitational lensing.

## Contribution

It introduces a framework for analyzing light propagation in area metric spacetimes and demonstrates deviations from Etherington's relation in a linearized Schwarzschild case.

## Key findings

- Deviation from Etherington relation in linearized area metric Schwarzschild
- Light propagation sensitive to non-metricity effects
- Potential observational signatures of area metric geometries

## Abstract

We consider light propagation as a probe of non-metricity in area metric spacetimes, and find a deviation from the standard Etherington relation for linearized area metric Schwarzschild. This is joint work with Frederic P. Schuller (Erlangen University).
