## TL;DR

This review explains how electromagnetic fields induce optical forces and torques on microparticles, integrating electromagnetism and energy conversion concepts for applications in microscopic systems.

## Contribution

It provides a pedagogical overview connecting electromagnetism theory with practical applications in microscopic and nanoscopic particle manipulation.

## Key findings

- Analysis of optical forces and torques on particles
- Conceptual understanding of electromagnetic-induced dynamics
- Educational integration of electromagnetism and energy conversion

## Abstract

This is a review addressed to undergraduate students of electrical engineering and physics careers, and our aim is to present a pedagogical integration of some knowledge acquired in electromagnetism and electromechanical energy conversion courses, and to show how they can be used in actual technological applications, in particular for microscopic and nanoscopic systems. In this work, we present a conceptual analysis of the generation of optical forces and torques over a system of particles irradiated by an external electromagnetic field, studying the induced dynamics.
