TL;DR
This paper demonstrates the real-time transmission of a virtualized RAN split interface over a commercial XGS-PON system, analyzing the effects of dynamic bandwidth allocation and packet jitter on performance.
Contribution
It provides the first experimental assessment of PDCP-RLC split interface transmission over XGS-PON, including the impact of DBA and jitter on network performance.
Findings
DBA impacts uplink transmission performance
Packet jitter affects downlink quality
Real-time transmission over XGS-PON is feasible
Abstract
In this work, we experimentally assess the transmission of a PDCP-RLC virtualised RAN split interface through a commercial XGS-PON system. We investigate the impacts of DBA on the uplink and packet jitter on the downlink.
