## TL;DR

This paper investigates dark matter production mechanisms in the early universe, highlighting that Standard Model loop processes can generate the correct relic abundance even without direct inflaton coupling.

## Contribution

It demonstrates that Standard Model loop processes can produce the correct dark matter relic abundance without direct inflaton coupling, expanding understanding of non-thermal dark matter origins.

## Key findings

- Standard Model loops can produce sufficient dark matter relic abundance.
- Non-thermal production via inflaton decay is comparable to thermal processes.
- Loop processes may dominate dark matter production even without direct coupling.

## Abstract

We compare dark matter production from the thermal bath in the early universe with its direct production through the decay of the inflaton. We show that even if dark matter does not possess a direct coupling with the inflaton, Standard Model loop processes may be sufficient to generate the correct relic abundance.
