## TL;DR

This paper provides a concise overview of Steinberg algebras derived from étale groupoids, highlighting their relationships with groupoid C*-algebras and partial group rings through inverse semigroups.

## Contribution

It offers a clear introduction to the structure and connections of Steinberg algebras, emphasizing their links with other algebraic and analytical frameworks.

## Key findings

- Steinberg algebras are closely related to groupoid C*-algebras.
- The paper clarifies the connection between Steinberg algebras and partial group rings.
- Inverse semigroups serve as a bridge between these algebraic structures.

## Abstract

We give a concise introduction to (discrete) algebras arising from \'etale groupoids, (aka Steinberg algebras) and describe their close relationship with groupoid C*-algebras. Their connection to partial group rings via inverse semigroups also explored.
