## TL;DR

This paper demonstrates a method to lower the string unification scale to the GUT scale in heterotic string compactifications while maintaining perturbative validity, exemplified by a specific N=1 supersymmetric vacuum.

## Contribution

It introduces a class of heterotic compactifications that achieve GUT scale unification without losing perturbative control, providing explicit model examples.

## Key findings

- Lowered unification scale to GUT scale in heterotic models
- Explicit N=1 supersymmetric heterotic vacuum constructed
- Perturbative analysis remains valid at the lowered scale

## Abstract

We present a class of heterotic compactifications where it is possible to lower the string unification scale down to the GUT scale, while preserving the validity of the perturbative analysis. We illustrate this approach with an explicit example of a four-dimensional chiral heterotic vacuum with N=1 supersymmetry.
