TL;DR
This paper provides a geometric interpretation of Newton strata in reductive p-adic groups, enhancing understanding of their structure and role in representation theory.
Contribution
It introduces a novel geometric perspective on Newton strata, linking algebraic and geometric aspects in p-adic group theory.
Findings
Provides a geometric framework for Newton strata
Clarifies the role of Newton strata in representation theory
Bridges algebraic and geometric approaches in p-adic groups
Abstract
The Newton strata of a reductive -adic group are introduced in \cite{Newton} and play some role in the representation theory of -adic groups. In this paper, we give a geometric interpretation of the Newton strata.
