TL;DR
This paper proposes a mathematical model for neurons based on a symmetry principle ensuring consistency between different modeling approaches, aiming to unify conductance and resistance perspectives.
Contribution
It introduces a novel symmetry-based principle to derive a unified mathematical neuron model from different biophysical modeling approaches.
Findings
The model achieves consistency between conductance and resistance-based descriptions.
It provides a new theoretical foundation for neuron modeling.
The approach simplifies the derivation of neuron models from biophysical principles.
Abstract
This paper is to derive a mathematical model for neuron by imposing only a principle of symmetry that two modelers must come up with the same model when one is approaching the problem by modeling the conductances of ion channels and the other by the channel resistances.
