Interpretation of the newly observed $\Sigma_b(6097)^{\pm}$ and $\Xi_b(6227)^-$ states as the $P$-wave bottom baryons
Kai-Lei Wang, Qi-Fang L\"u, Xian-Hui Zhong

TL;DR
This paper interprets newly observed bottom baryons as P-wave states using a constituent quark model, suggesting their quantum numbers and predicting more such states for future detection.
Contribution
It provides a theoretical assignment of the $ ext{Σ}_b(6097)$ and $ ext{Ξ}_b(6227)$ as P-wave bottom baryons, expanding understanding of their structure and quantum numbers.
Findings
$ ext{Σ}_b(6097)$ and $ ext{Ξ}_b(6227)$ are likely P-wave states.
Both favor light spin $j=2$ with $J^P=3/2^-$ or $5/2^-$.
More P-wave bottom baryons are expected to be observed.
Abstract
The strong decays of the -wave , and baryons are investigated with a constituent quark model in the - coupling scheme. The results show that the newly observed and states by the LHCb collaboration can be assigned as the -mode -wave singly bottom baryons. Given the heavy quark symmetry, both the and states favor the light spin states with spin-parity numbers or . More -wave singly bottom baryons are most likely to be observed in future experiments for their relatively narrow width.
