A note on matter covariantization for gravity coupling
S. Deser

TL;DR
This paper explains how matter covariantization naturally arises when coupling matter to gravity, paralleling the derivation of General Relativity from free fields, ensuring consistent interaction.
Contribution
It demonstrates that matter covariantization for gravity coupling emerges through the same physical principles as GR's derivation from free fields.
Findings
Matter covariantization follows from physical principles similar to GR derivation.
Concrete systems illustrate covariantization process.
Ensures consistent matter-gravity coupling.
Abstract
Covariantization is of course required for initially flat space matter to couple consistently to GR; here I show in detail for concrete systems how it follows in the same physical way as that deriving GR itself from its initial free-field form.
