Natural measures of alignment
R. A. Kycia, Z. Tabor

TL;DR
This paper introduces a natural coordinate system that simplifies device and detector alignment procedures, generalizing previous calibration formulas and providing a top-level description, with an application example in linac therapy planning.
Contribution
It proposes a new natural coordinate system for alignment that generalizes existing calibration methods and simplifies the process.
Findings
Simplifies device alignment procedures
Provides a generalized calibration framework
Demonstrates application in linac therapy planning
Abstract
Natural coordinate system will be proposed. In this coordinate system alignment procedure of a device and a detector can be easily performed. This approach is generalization of previous specific formulas in the field of calibration and provide top level description of the procedure. A basic example application to linac therapy plan is also provided.
