TL;DR
This paper introduces photon trapping micro-structures to improve the quantum efficiency of mid-infrared photodetectors by reducing reflection and redirecting incident light into absorbing modes.
Contribution
It presents a novel nanostructure design with micro holes that enhances light absorption in mid-infrared photodetectors.
Findings
Reduced reflection in photodetectors
Increased light absorption efficiency
Potential for improved detector performance
Abstract
The study proposes to use the photon trapping micro-structures to enhance quantum efficiency of the mid infrared photodetectors. The nanostructure that is consist of micro holes reduces reflection and bends the near normally incident light into the lateral modes in the absorbing layer.
