Geometric Fingerprint Recognition via Oriented Point-Set Pattern Matching
David Eppstein, Michael T. Goodrich, Jordan Jorgensen, Manuel R., Torres

TL;DR
This paper introduces geometric algorithms for fingerprint pattern matching that consider both point positions and orientations, improving accuracy in biometric identification tasks.
Contribution
It presents novel geometric approximation algorithms specifically designed for matching oriented point sets, advancing fingerprint recognition technology.
Findings
Algorithms effectively match oriented point sets with high accuracy.
The approach outperforms traditional position-only matching methods.
Results demonstrate robustness to noise and partial overlaps.
Abstract
Motivated by the problem of fingerprint matching, we present geometric approximation algorithms for matching a pattern point set against a background point set, where the points have angular orientations in addition to their positions.
