$a$-theorem at large $N_f$
Oleg Antipin, Nicola Andrea Dondi, Francesco Sannino, Anders, Eller Thomsen

TL;DR
This paper calculates the a-function in gauge-fermion theories at large Nf, revealing violations of the strong a-theorem under certain conditions, which challenges existing theoretical expectations.
Contribution
It provides the first leading-order large Nf calculation of the a-function and demonstrates violations of the strong a-theorem in this regime.
Findings
The a-function was explicitly computed at large Nf.
Violations of the strong a-theorem were observed for the minimal a-function.
The results suggest limitations of the a-theorem in certain gauge-fermion theories.
Abstract
We determine the Jack and Osborn a-function and related metric for gauge-fermion theories to leading order in the large number of fermions and to all orders in the gauge coupling, demonstrating that the strong a-theorem is violated for the minimal choice of the a-function.
