Forward charm-production models and prompt neutrinos at IceCube
Atri Bhattacharya, J. R. Cudell

TL;DR
This paper examines the impact of forward charm production models, including intrinsic charm and recombination mechanisms, on the prompt neutrino background at IceCube, finding their contributions are limited to at most double the baseline estimates.
Contribution
It introduces a detailed analysis of forward charm production mechanisms and their effects on neutrino background predictions at IceCube.
Findings
Intrinsic charm and recombination contribute at most a factor of two.
Prompt neutrino background estimates are affected by these mechanisms.
The study refines the understanding of charm-related neutrino fluxes.
Abstract
We investigate the prompt neutrino background at IceCube, as determined from forward charm. We consider the role of intrinsic charm and of a recombination model and show that the contribution of these mechanisms is at most a factor two.
