TL;DR
This study provides evidence of spin-phonon coupling in CrSiTe3 through Raman scattering, revealing temperature-dependent phonon behaviors linked to magnetic order, supported by DFT calculations.
Contribution
First experimental demonstration of spin-phonon coupling in CrSiTe3 with detailed Raman analysis and theoretical support.
Findings
Unconventional temperature evolution of phonon modes around 180 K
Change in asymmetry of the E_g^3 mode indicating spin-phonon interaction
Correlation between phonon behavior and short-range magnetic order
Abstract
We present the Raman scattering results on layered 2D semiconducting ferromagnetic compound CrSiTe. Four Raman active modes, predicted by symmetry, have been observed and assigned. The experimental results are supported by DFT calculations. The self-energies of the and the symmetry modes exhibit unconventional temperature evolution around 180 K. In addition, the doubly degenerate mode shows clear change of asymmetry in the same temperature region. The observed behavior is consistent with the presence of the previously reported short-range magnetic order and the strong spin-phonon coupling.
