TL;DR
This paper reports the first observation of the decay of the doubly charmed baryon ^{++} into ^{+}\u03c0^{+}, confirming previous findings and measuring its mass and branching ratios with high statistical significance.
Contribution
The paper provides the first experimental observation of the ^{++} ^{+}c^{+} decay mode, including precise measurements of its mass and decay branching ratios.
Findings
Decay observed with 5.9 sigma significance.
Mass of ^{++} measured as 3620.6 MeV/c^2.
Branching ratio ratio measured as 0.035.
Abstract
The doubly charmed baryon decay is observed for the first time, with a statistical significance of , confirming a recent observation of the baryon in the final state. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of , collected by the LHCb experiment in collisions at a center-of-mass energy of . The mass is measured to be \begin{equation}\nonumber 3620.6\pm 1.5~(\text{stat})\pm 0.4~(\text{syst}) \pm 0.3~(\Xi_{c}^{+})~\text{MeV}/\it{c}^{2}, \end{equation} and is consistent with the previous result. The ratio of branching fractions between the decay modes is measured to be \begin{equation}\nonumber \frac{\mathcal{B} (\Xi_{cc}^{++} \rightarrow \Xi_{c}^{+} \pi^{+}) \times \mathcal{B}(\Xi_{c}^{+}…
