TL;DR
This paper analyzes the $ ext{Omega}(2012)$ hyperon using flavour SU(3) symmetry, proposing its quantum numbers, exploring its possible molecular nature, and predicting properties of related decuplet members to guide future experiments.
Contribution
The study provides a flavour SU(3) analysis of $ ext{Omega}(2012)$, suggesting its quantum numbers and exploring its molecular interpretation, along with predictions for related hyperons.
Findings
$ ext{Omega}(2012)$ likely has $I(J^P)=0(3/2^-)$.
The $ ext{Delta}(1700)$ resonance is a good candidate for its decuplet partner.
Predictions made for $ ext{Sigma}$ and $ ext{Xi}$ decuplet members.
Abstract
We perform the flavour analysis of the recently discovered hyperon. We find that well known (four star) resonance with quantum numbers of is a good candidate for the decuplet partner of if the branching for the three-body decays of the latter is not too large \%. That implies that the quantum numbers of are . The predictions for the properties of still missing and decuplet members are made. We also discuss the implications of the molecular picture of . Crucial experimental tests to distinguish various pictures of are suggested.
