TL;DR
This paper measures the CP-violating phase gamma using B meson decays to D mesons with specific decay modes, employing a model-independent Dalitz plot analysis with data from LHCb, resulting in a precise gamma value consistent with the Standard Model.
Contribution
First measurement of gamma using a model-independent Dalitz plot analysis of B to D decays with K_S^0 pi+ pi- and K_S^0 K+ K- modes, combining LHCb data from 2015-2016 with previous results.
Findings
Measured gamma as approximately 80-87 degrees.
Determined the ratio of suppressed to favored B decay amplitudes as about 0.08.
Provided constraints on strong-interaction phase differences.
Abstract
A binned Dalitz plot analysis of decays, with and , is used to perform a measurement of the CP-violating observables and , which are sensitive to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle . The analysis is performed without assuming any decay model, through the use of information on the strong-phase variation over the Dalitz plot from the CLEO collaboration. Using a sample of proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb experiment in 2015 and 2016, and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0, the values of the CP violation parameters are found to be , , , and $y_+ = (- 1.0 \pm 1.9 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.9)…
