How Li & Paczynski Model of Kilonova Fits GW170817 Optical Counterpart
Andrzej Kruszewski

TL;DR
This paper evaluates the Li & Paczynski kilonova model against the observed optical light curve of GW170817, finding excellent agreement within the first 1.5 days after the merger.
Contribution
It demonstrates that the Li & Paczynski model accurately reproduces early-time optical observations of GW170817's kilonova.
Findings
Model matches early optical light curve up to 1.5 days
Good agreement with observed bolometric light curve
Supports the validity of the Li & Paczynski model for early kilonova emission
Abstract
The original Li & Paczynski model of kilonova was compared with the observed bolometric optical light curve of the GW170817 electromagnetic counterpart. Perfect agreement is obtained for early observations up to 1.5 days since the time of merger.
