Measurement of D$^0$, D$^+$, D$^{*+}$ and D$^+_{\rm s}$ production in Pb-Pb collisions at $\mathbf{\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}}= 5.02$ TeV
ALICE Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper measures the production and suppression of various D mesons in Pb-Pb collisions at 5.02 TeV, providing insights into charm quark behavior in quark-gluon plasma.
Contribution
First measurement of D meson production and nuclear modification factors in Pb-Pb collisions at 5.02 TeV across multiple centrality classes.
Findings
Non-strange D mesons show minimum R_AA of about 0.2 at 6-10 GeV/c.
D_s mesons have larger R_AA than non-strange D mesons within uncertainties.
R_AA of non-strange D mesons aligns with charged particles at high p_T.
Abstract
We report measurements of the production of prompt D, D, D and D mesons in Pb-Pb collisions at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon-nucleon pair TeV, in the centrality classes 0-10%, 30-50% and 60-80%. The D-meson production yields are measured at mid-rapidity () as a function of transverse momentum (). The intervals covered in central collisions are: Gev/ for D, GeV/ for D, GeV/ for D, and GeV/ for D mesons. The nuclear modification factors () for non-strange D mesons (D, D, D) show minimum values of about 0.2 for = 6-10 GeV/ in the most central collisions and are compatible within uncertainties with those measured at TeV.
