TL;DR
This paper models charm baryon production in antiproton-proton and antiproton-nucleus collisions at energies relevant to the ${ar P}ANDA$ experiment, predicting cross sections and hypernuclear formation probabilities.
Contribution
It introduces a covariant effective Lagrangian model for charm production and explores hypernuclear formation in antiproton interactions, providing new theoretical predictions.
Findings
Differential cross sections for charm baryon production are in the range of a few microbarns per steradian.
Predicted formation of charm hypernuclei with specific particle-hole configurations.
Model offers detailed predictions for ${ar P}ANDA$ experimental conditions.
Abstract
We study the production of charmed baryons in the antiproton-proton and antiproton-nucleus interactions within a fully covariant model that is based on an effective Lagrangian approach. The baryon production proceeds via the -channel and meson-exchange diagrams. We have also explored the production of the charm-baryon hypernucleus O in the antiproton - O collisions. For antiproton beam momenta of interest to the experiment, the 0 differential cross sections for the formation of O hypernuclear states with simple particle-hole configurations, have magnitudes in the range of a few b/sr.
