Abstract
Addition formulae of trigonometric and elliptic functions are used to generate B\"acklund transformations together with their connecting quadrilateral equations. As a result we obtain periodic solutions for a number of multidimensionally consistent affine linear and multiquadratic quadrilateral equations.
